This report provides a comparative analysis of the current state of campus alcohol policies relative to best practice using data from 12 Atlantic Canadian Universities. The objective of the report is to provide comprehensive and evidence-based alcohol policy recommendations that campus decision-makers can use to strengthen their existing alcohol policies and aim to reduce heavy drinking and related harms among their students.
The policy language and recommendations within this document are grounded in that evidence, but they are not intended to be prescriptive. This is a flexible, adaptable framework designed to assist institutions in the development or revision of alcohol-related policies. This framework is best used alongside the “Strengthening Alcohol Policies on Atlantic Canadian Campuses” report.
